In 1984 the Viscount Bennett Band Parents Association established a Scholarship fund to encourage talented, deserving students, currently enrolled in a Grade 11 Band program, the opportunity and incentive to continue their studies in the Grade 12 band program. This award is intended to assist students who might otherwise be unable to continue in the band program for financial reasons.

Eligibility
Open to students registered in Grade 11 who are in the Band Program and are completing the requirements of a high school diploma. Applicants must have demonstrated academic progress and have achieved a minimum of 70% in the Grade 11 Band program. Students must be continuing in the Grade 12 Band program and demonstrate financial need. Evidence of financial need must be shown by providing the information requested in Section III of the application.
One letter of reference is required from the applicant’s band teacher, demonstrating the applicant’s positive citizenship qualities as revealed by the contribution of time, effort and a positive creative attitude to their band. A brief statement from the applicant must be included with the application, indicating their plans for continued study of music in Grade 12.
Selection will be based on academics, financial need and reference.

Selection & Payment
Recipients are selected and notified by September. The payment will be made directly to recipients in the fall of Grade 12.
