Eligibility

Open to IB students registered at Henry Wise Wood High School who are enrolled in IB Biology and/or IB Chemistry classes.

Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement in IB Biology/Chemistry courses, contribution to the community and financial need.

Applicants are required to submit an original essay of no more than 500 words reflecting upon their personal growth as it relates to any two (2) traits from the IB Learner Profile and how they hope their personal growth and knowledge gained in the IB Programme will “help create a better and more peaceful world” (IB Learner Profile).

Applicants are also required to submit one letter of reference from a teacher or school official that will comment on the student’s success in the IB program, their contribution to the community and the student’s overall personal growth during their time at Henry Wise Wood High School as an IB student.

Selection will be based on academic achievement, contribution to the school/community, the essay, reference letter and financial need.

Selection & Payment

Recipients will be selected and notified by June. The selection committee shall include the IB Coordinator and possibly other staff at Henry Wise Wood High School, an EducationMatters representative and may include the donors or a designated representative.

To claim the award, within one (1) year of high school graduation, students must be enrolled in an eligible program of post-secondary study (including trades/apprenticeship programs applicable).
