At EducationMatters we are dedicated to empowering Calgary public school students to reach their full potential. One important initiative that enables us to accomplish this is the Alberta Skills Competition. This annual event brings together approximately 700 young people from across the province, providing them with a platform to showcase their skills in 45 trade and technology areas. We are seeking your support to ensure that every student has an equal opportunity to participate and excel in this transformative competition.
Financial constraints should never hinder a student’s ability to pursue their passion and showcase their talents. However, many Calgary Board of Education (CBE) students face challenges in participating in the Alberta Skills Competition due to limited resources. Higher-need schools often struggle to cover the additional expenses that come with entry to the competition – such as registration fees, transportation, and necessary equipment. This disparity leaves students, especially those economically disadvantaged, limiting their chances to compete and gain recognition for their skills.
By donating to EducationMatters you can directly support CBE students in the Alberta Skills Competition, unlocking their potential and helping to build a skilled workforce for the future. Your generous contribution will be utilized to cover costs associated with student transportation, registration fees, and necessary equipment over the two-day competition in Edmonton.
