Establish an award or scholarship by February 16, 2018 to help Calgary students pursue their post-secondary education dreams.

As the winter school semester begins, graduating students in Calgary are facing important choices. Those planning on continuing their education must decide what to study, where to study, – and how to pay for it all.

The cost of post-secondary education continues to rise, making awards and scholarships critical for Calgary students who are looking to pursue post-secondary education at a trade school, university, or college.

Recognizing the important financial need that many students face, EducationMatters donors have created more than 90 awards and scholarships to help students in Calgary make ends meet while pursuing higher education.

“We have a wide-range of student awards available,” says Kathy Schilman, the Grants and Stewardship Officer for EducationMatters. “There is something for every student, and not every scholarship is awarded based on academic achievement.”

In 2017 EducationMatters received over 1800 award applications from students in Calgary.

Given the high demand, we are always looking to establish new opportunities to help students continue their education.

Donors have the freedom to choose award recipient selection criteria that is closely aligned with personal or corporate values. The result is a balanced pool of awards to support Calgary students with varied interests, experiences, and goals.

The application process for the 2018 student awards will open on March 1, 2018.

To have new awards ready for the opening of the 2018 student awards application on March 1, we ask that families, individuals, or businesses contact EducationMatters by February 16, 2018.

Calgary students rely on the financial support provided by awards and we are of course happy to establish new awards at any point during the year; however, awards that are established prior to the March 1, 2018 will have the most exposure to student applicants.
