To ensure students are well-prepared for their future careers, CBE’s Career Pathway Programs offer safety credential courses as part of the high school curriculum.

Historically, these courses were not included in regular curriculum, and students had to enroll and pay for them privately, which posed a significant barrier for those with limited financial resources.

With the generous support of ConocoPhillips, 129 students have received training this year, removing financial constraints that may have otherwise hindered their participation.

CBE teachers identify students in need and encourage them to attend these classes. The courses are scheduled on weekends, during school breaks, or on Friday afternoons to maximize participation. External industry professionals deliver the content, providing students with valuable training in areas such as first aid, fall arrest/protection, and aerial/elevated platform.

“The ability to offer safety credential courses is a game-changer for at-need students, leveling the playing field and providing them with equitable opportunities for employment,” says Kim Anthony, Interim Executive Director for EducationMatters.

“The support of ConocoPhillips has not only helped equip students with necessary skills and certifications but has also provided them with hope that allows them to pursue their dreams with confidence.”

By integrating these courses into the high school experience, CBE is ensuring that every student, regardless of their financial situation, has the chance to excel and contribute meaningfully to their chosen industry.

“We are grateful to ConocoPhillips for their many years of support for this program,” Kim says. “Their contribution means a brighter and safer future for our youth.”
