In honour of Pat Cochrane’s 20 year commitment to public education, the EducationMatters Board of Governors has established a fund in her honour.  It is Ms. Cochrane’s wish that donations to this fund be used to support the creation and enhancement of learning commons and personalized learning environments in Calgary Board of Education schools.

EducationMatters’ Board of Governors thank Pat for her 14 years of service as Calgary Board of Education Trustee, 12 of which were as Trustee Chair.  The board also recognizes her inspirational role as a Founding Governor of EducationMatters.

Pat has strong beliefs about public education and has been involved since 1993, the year her daughter started Kindergarten. Pat could be found in the classroom, on the field trips and at parent meetings. She acted as a Key Communicator, then Vice-Chair and Chair of the School Council. For much of this time she was also actively involved as an advocate for public education through her work with SPEAK (Support Public Education – Act for Kids).
