Once again, EducationMatters’ staff and Student Awards Committee spent their free hours this summer reading through more than 1,680 student award applications to shortlist and select this years’ award recipients. “As a child I always believed in the kindness of strangers, but with the reality of things going on in my world, I was rudely reminded of how naïve my beliefs were. To be quite honest, I grew up in an environment where people took things. People take and take but rarely give.”

  Aidan Johnson is a graduate of Ernest Manning High School and in 2017 he won three student awards through EducationMatters. Currently, he is studying engineering at the University of Calgary and credits these awards with giving him the opportunity to grow as a person while in school.

Establish an award or scholarship by February 16, 2018 to help Calgary students pursue their post-secondary education dreams.

With students in Calgary back in the classroom we wanted to highlight some of the amazing programs our donors have made possible and the impacts they are having on students.
