We were thrilled to celebrate the student success donors like you make possible for Calgary Board of Education students. On November 16, 2017, we gathered at Fort Calgary with a fantastic community of EducationMatters supporters, donors, volunteers, teachers, and students.

 

Thanks to Nelson Mandela High School for lending us some of these amazing banners to display. The banners were a collaboration between students and artist in residence Mikhail Miller.

It was a full house. Pleased to have Calgary Board of Education Trustees Richard Hehr, Lisa Davis, and Marilyn Dennis in attendance.

Thanks to students and staff from the Sherwood School Musical Theatre program for putting on a fantastic performance for everyone in attendance.

Kris Reinhardt, Principal of Westview School, speaks about the life-changing impacts donors are making on some of our most vulnerable and at-risk students.

Andrew Phung, from the hit CBC series Kim’s Convenience, was a fantastic host for this year’s event. Andrew spoke about his own personal connections to empowering youth.

Dr. Dianne Gereluk, from the University of Calgary’s Werklund School of Education, gave an informative presentation about re-imagining the future of the teaching profession.
